Austria’s youngest detective, the young and dynamic Christian Taler (Alexander Knaipp) and his feisty new Tyrolean assistant, Angela Reiter (Tina Winkler) have to solve an eerie murder in a small Austrian city. The city of Traun is home to a legend. A legend where a farmer tricked the devil by sacrificing his life in order to save his daughter. Present day, on the anniversary of the original crime: there is dead man hanging in a tree - is the devil back in Traun? Christian and Angela, both trained in contrary deduction methods want to solve the mystery their own way.

Only with the help of each other can Christian and Angela solve the crime, but they can't seem to see eye-to-eye - the devil's in it.
